<note>The aim of this research is to know whether there is a significant effect of using short
story towards students’ reading comprehension at second grade of SMP Daarul Abroor Lebak
Wangi. In order to achieve the objective of his research, the researcher used a quantitative
method. The researcher took 50 students as the sample of this research and divided them into
two classes, one as an experimental class and other as control class. The researcher used a test
using 20 multiple choice questions as a research instruments. This research was conducted
using pretest, treatments and posttest. The result of teaching students’ reading comprehension
taught by the researcher using short story is good, because there was an improvement in the
posttest score. In addition, there is significant effect of using short story on students’ reading
comprehension between experimental and control class.</note>
