<note>The aims of the research were to examine the effect of Hello English
application on improvement of students’ English vocabulary at the seventh-grade
students of SMP PGRI Selapajang Jaya in the academic year 2020/2021 and to find
out the students' perceptions on using the Hello English application in English
vocabulary learning. A quantitative method with quasi-experimental design was
applied in this research. The seventh-grade students of SMP PGRI Selapajang Jaya
in the academic year 2020/2021 was used as the population of this research; also,
the sample of the research was both classes that consist of 30 students from VII-A
as the experimental group and 30 students from VII-B as the control group. The
researcher provided a multiple-choice test as the research instrument to obtain the
data. The researcher employed statistical calculating of the t-test formula with 5%
significance level utilizing SPPS 22 version. In accordance with the result of the
research, the researcher discovered the mean score of Post-Test in the experimental
group was higher than the control group (76.67 > 62.50). The result of t-test showed
that t0 (4.184) was higher than ttable (2.002); thus, it indicates that Ha is accepted
while Ho is rejected and it means that utilizing Hello English had a significance
effect on the improvement of students’ English vocabulary at the seventh grade of
SMP PGRI Selapang Jaya in the academic year 2020/2021. Questionnaire was also
used as another research instrument to measure students’ perception on using the
Hello English application in English vocabulary learning. As recorded by the
questionnaire results, the students agree that the Hello English application can assist
them learn English, especially English vocabulary; also, they felt satisfied and
loved the learning process when they used the Hello English application to acquire
English vocabulary.</note>
