<note>The objectives of the study are to know whether there is a significant
effect of using four square writing method (FSWM) toward students’ writing skill
and to know the students’ responses of implementation Four Square Writing
Method (FSWM). The population of this study is the eleventh grade students of
SMAN 10 Kota Tangerang in academic year 2018/2019. The numbers of students
at the eleventh grade are 275 students. Subject of this study are 69 students. The
writer used non-random sampling technique to determine the sample.
The data of independent variable (X) was collected through questionnaire
and teaching with Four Square Writing Method. The data of the dependent
variable (Y) was collected from essay test of students writing skill (pre-test and
post-test). The data analysis technique and testing hypothesis was done using Ttest. The result of hypotheses has been found tcount = 2,320 and ttable to α = 0,05,
was gotten ttable = 1,668. Thus testing criteria refuse Ho because tcount > ttable, tcount
2,320> ttable 1,668. It indicated that Ha is accepted. In other words, there is a
significance effect of Four Square Writing Method (FSWM) toward students’
writing skill at the eleventh grade of SMAN 10 Tangerang. Then, the result of
questionnaire had shown that the most of students were interested learning
English by using Four Square Writing Method.
Therefore, it can be concluded that there was a positive effect of Four
Square Writing Method (FSWM) toward students’ writing skill at eleventh grade
of SMAN 10 Tangerang.</note>
