English is a language that is often used in several countries to be a means of communication with the public. In this research, there are many identified problems related to English vocabulary. The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is a significant effect of using the word square method in improving students' English skills. To achieve the research objectives the writer, use this type of quantitative research. The writer uses pre-experimental research. because only one group was selected. The data obtained will be calculated using statistical data or SPSS version 22. The results of data analysis are obtained from vocabulary tests. After giving the pretest to the experimental class, the writer gave treatment to the experimental class. In the experimental class this research was taught using the word quadratic as a treatment. Based on the formulation of the problem, research objectives, hypothesis testing, and the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the value of students' understanding in the experimental class increased after the word square method was applied.
