The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 4 Kabupaten Tangerang. The purpose of this research is to find out whether the use of short stories as a teaching medium has a significant effect on students' reading comprehension and interest. The research population was class X students of SMA Negeri 3 Tangerang Regency. The sample consisted of 84 students, 42 students X IPS 3 as the experimental class and 42 students X IPS 4 as the control class. The experimental class uses short story reading techniques in the learning process, while the control class uses conventional techniques in the learning process. This type of research is Quasi Experimental with quantitative methods. The author uses multiple choice tests, takes questionnaires and calculates normality, homogeneity, non-Parametric, F-test and coefficient of determination tests. descriptive samples of the experimental and control classes using the SPSS 26 program to collect data. this study shows that there is a significant effect of using Short Stories as a medium to increase students' reading comprehension and interest in class X at SMAN 3 Tangerang Regency for the 2022/2023 academic year.
