This research focuses on the effectiveness of improving the English speaking skills of tenth grade students at SMK PGRI 5 South Tangerang through English language films. The research question is: Are films effective as a medium for improving students' speaking skills at SMK PGRI 5 South Tangerang? The aim of this research is to find out whether English language films are effective or not in improving the speaking skills of class 10 students at SMK PGRI 5 South Tangerang. This research applies pre-experimental research. In collecting data, researchers used several techniques such as Tests and treatment. This thesis applies pre-experimental research. The research instrument is a speaking test in the form of a pre-test and post-test. Data were analyzed using SPSS. To analyze the data, researchers determined assessment classifications which included accuracy, fluency, and understanding. The population of this study was class X students of SMK PGRI 5 South Tangerang. The sample was 30 class X Accounting students. The student results were the average score for the pre-test was 2.2333 and the post-test was 3.588. It was concluded that the student's score increased from 2.2333 to 3.588. Therefore, the researcher concluded that there an effect movie as media for improving students' speaking skills in the tenth grade of SMK PGRI 5 South Tangerang.
