<note>This research was conducted at SMK Perjuangan Bangsa. Based on the criteria of 
normality, the aim of this research was to find out the Effect of Using English Short Story to 
Improve Students‘ in Reading Skill. The population of this research was the tenth grade of SMK 
Perjuangan Bangsa. The samples are 35 students. This research used Experimental class. The 
research data is collected through pre-test and post-test. Based on the result of this research, that 
sig value of pre-test is 0.046 and sig value of post-test is 0.004. Both of sig value in pre-test and 
post-test showed smaller than 0.05 (0.046<0.05 and 0.004<0.05). It means both of data in pretest and post-test are normal distribution based on criteria of normality. From the explanation and 
calculation of the research, it can be concluded that there is no significant effect of teaching by 
using short story on reading skill. It is known sig = 0.000 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that 
there is no significant effect of using English short story to improve students‘ reading skill at the 
tenth grade of SMK Perjuangan Bangsa in academic year 2020/2021.</note>
