This research was conducted in order to whether there was a correlation between students' mastery of simple present tense and writing descriptive text. The method of this research used correlation research. The research was done at MAN 2 Cipondoh Tangerang. The researcher chose one class which was X IPA 2 as the samples that consist 38 students. The researcher used test to collect data. It was done to find out whether there is the correlation between students‟ mastery of simple present tense and writing descriptive text. Based on test hypotheses, it shows that the variable has correlation from 38 students which their writing ability is influenced by their mastery of simple present tense. The result of hypotheses is alternative hypotheses (Ha) is accepted and the null hypotheses (Ho) is rejected. In addition, the research was seen if the students‟ mastery of simple present tense has a significant positive correlation with writing descriptive text ability at tenth grade of MAN 2 Cipondoh Tangerang in Academic Year 2018/2019
