<note>This research has several aims. First, to find out the influence among selfassessment and speaking ability. Second, to find out the influence among gender and speaking ability. The last, to find out the influence among self-assessment and gender towards speaking ability at the eleventh grade students of SMAN 18 Kabupaten Tangerang. The population of this research was the whole classes of 11th grade which consist of 285 students and then, 166 students were selected as the sample by using proportionate sample random sampling and using Slovin Formula as the sample of the research. The data were collected using test and questionnaire. The multiple regression test were used to find out the influence among each variables. The result showed that first, there is no significant effects of self-assessment to speaking ability. Second, there is significant effect of gender to speaking ability. The last, there is no significant effect of self-assessment and gender on speaking ability. This research contributes self-assessment cannot effect students’ speaking ability to be better.</note>
