The research aims to analyze students’ ability in writing descriptive text. It was conducted at SMAN 5 Kabupaten Tangerang for 10th grade students in academic year 2020/2021. This study applied descriptive qualitative method with a sample of 27 students taken by purposive sampling. The results showed that 23 students were able in making descriptive text including the generic structure and language features of the text and only 4 students were not able in making it. From the analysis of students’ work it can be interpreted that most of students are able in making descriptive text, although 4 students of them did not master it. Hopefully this research can give benefit for the teachers, students, and further researchers as an information in doing another research with various techniques so the students can understand and able in making genre’s text especially descriptive text.
