The effect of whatsapp voice note as a medium to teach english speaking skill at tenth grade students of SMAN 5 Kabupaten Tangerang in academic year 2020/2021
The aim of this research was to know whether there is a significant effect of using
WhatsApp Voice Note on students’ speaking skill after applying WhatsApp Voice Note and
questionnaire to know the level of students’ satisfaction in using WhatsApp voice note of
students at the tenth grade of SMAN 5 Kabupaten Tangerang. This research is quantitative
method, 36 students as the sample which taken nonrandom by using pre-experimental
research in the form of one group pre-test and post-test design. Students’ test and
questionnaire were used by the researcher to collect the data. The hypothesis data was tested
using formula of wilcoxon test, it was known that Asymp. Sig 0,000 < 0,05. So, it can be
concluded that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted it means there is significant difference used
WhatsApp Voice Note on the students’ speaking skill at the tenth grade of SMAN 5
Kabupaten Tangerang.
Result of questionnaire found that most of the students answered ‘agree’ option of all
the statement given. The students argued that the use of WhatsApp Voice Note could
improve their confident to speak English without anxiety and helped them to understand the
material given, because they could listen to repeatedly.
