An analysis of grammatical error in descriptive text written by students of the tenth grade of SMAN 14 Tangerang in academic year 2018/2019
The objective of the research is to know the common errors, frequencies and
factors of grammatical error on descriptive paragraph that made by the students. The
subjects of this research were consisted 30 students of the tenth grade of SMAN 14
Tangerang. The method used in this research belongs to descriptive analysis method.
The data of this research were gathered from the descriptive text written by the tenth
grade of SMAN 14 Tangerang. In the research the writer used classification of errors
including omission, addition, misformation and misordering. By analyzing the
students’ answer sheets, the writer obtained their errors of the test result and found
that were 59% errors of omission, 9% errors in addition, 24% errors in misformation,
and 8% errors in misordering. The writer observed 333 total errors. The writer
concluded that omission was the dominant kind of error made by the tenth grade
students of SMAN 14 Tangerang. The teachers is recommended for practicing
grammatical rules in simple present tense in order to minimize the errors. Moreover,
other researchers can provide techniques to increase students' mastery of simple
present tense.
