Students’ reaction to teacher’s feedback on improving students’ writing skill at the tenth grade of SMAN 10 Tangerang in academic year 2018/2019
The aim of this research was to know whether there is a significant effect of
students’ reaction to teacher feedback and to investigate the reaction of students to
the teacher’s feedback, focusing the factor might influence students’ reaction at
the tenth grade of SMAN 10 Tangerang. This research used quantitative and
qualitative method, 74 students as the sample which taken nonrandom by using
purposive sampling. Students’ test, questionnaires, protocol and checklist were
used by the researcher to collect the data. The hypothesis data was tested using
formula of t-test, it was known that in first experimental class –tcount < -ttable (-
8,292 < -2,026). In second experimental class –tcount < -ttable (-7,878 < -2,030). It
means, there was a significant effect used teacher’s feedback on improving
students’ writing skill at the eleventh grade of SMAN 10 Tangerang. The reaction
of students to teacher’s feedback almost was positive in both of classes.
Moreover, students preferred to get more errors feedback than written comment.
The factors that influence students’ reaction were the type of feedback, the
dominated in the feedback and the low skill of the students on applying teacher’s
feedback. So, it can be concluded that there was an improvement of students’
writing skill after the implementation of teacher’s feedback.
