Improving students reading comprehension through listen-read-discuss (LRD) strategy for the 7th students SMP 4 Curug Tangerang in academic 2022/2023
Reading is how to get information from books, newspapers, platforms, magazines,
and etc. By reading, the readers can grow their know-how of the text or the subject,
enriching their vocabulary and knowledge. This Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD)
strategy can be used to develop students' reading skills and alternative teaching
strategies to engage students in reading comprehension. This LRD strategy helps
children to be critical and broad-minded. The purpose of this study was determined
whether there was a significant influence using the strategy Listen-Read-Discuss
(LRD) to improve reading comprehension skills for English language at the seven
grades of SMP 4 Curug Tangerang in academic year 2022/2023 this research
population in seven grade of MSP 4 Curug Tangerang is 72 students, the writer used
Quasi-Experimental Design. Writer used Pre-test and Post-Test during the data
collection process. Based on the result of the study, it is known that the data is
normally distributed and homogenous. Based on the formulation of the problem,
writer objectives, hypothesis testing, and the result of analysis it can be concluded
that the value of students' understanding in experimental class increased after
method was applied.
