Socio-economic and gender differences towards studen's critical thinking in the second language learning at the Universitas Islam Syeikh-Yusuf in academic year 2022/2023
Critical thinking is one of the important variables for researchers and critical
thinking skills must be possessed by every learner. This study aims to empiricallydetermine the determinants of critical thinking such as socio-economics andgender. Researchers used a comparative causal approach with N= 165 samples. The multiple linear regression model shows that socio-economics contributessignificantly in improving students' critical thinking skills. Meanwhile, gender isnot proven to significantly affect students' critical thinking. The results prove that
there is a great influence between socio-economics on students' critical thinkinginsecond language learning. The results of the empirical study contribute to makingsocio-economic as one of the important elements of students' critical thinkingability policy. Students with higher socio-economic status tend to be able tothinkcritically better, due to their literacy skills
