The objective of this study is to find out whether there is a correlation
between students' English reading habits and their reading comprehension in tenth
grade students at SMK Jaya Buana Kabupaten Tangerang. This study used 40
students as samples, and the sampling technique used was simple random
sampling. In this study, the writer used a quantitative research method in the form
of correlation. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire with 26
statements about students' English reading habits. While for students' reading
comprehension using a written test with 32 questions in the form of multiple
choice. The data analysis method of this study uses regression analysis,
correlation, and coefficients of determination. The results of this study show that
there is a positive and significant correlation between students' English reading
habits and reading comprehension of 10th grade students of SMK Jaya Buana
Kabupaten Tangerang. It can be seen from the calculation that the significance
probability value found in this study is 0.000 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that
the two variables are correlated. These results show that reading habits are
important for students to develop their reading comprehension. Teachers can
invite students by giving them assignments to start reading a text that they like;
this aims to make the habit of reading grow and develop in students, so it is hoped
that in the future, students can more easily understand a text.
