The use of crossword puzzle games in enriching students' vocabulary for 8th grade students at SMPN 1 Cisoka Kabupaten Tangerang in the academic year 2022/2023
Learning vocabulary is a crucial part of learning English. In this study, the
researcher discovered issues that students faced when learning english, particularly
learning vocabulary. Mastery of student vocabulary is still low. This study’s goal
was to ascertain there was an effect on the use of crossword puzzle games in
enriching students' vocabulary in grade 8 students at SMP Negeri 1 Cisoka
Academic Year 2022/2023. The quantitative method and quasi-experimental
research design are used in this research. The population in this study were eighth
grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Cisoka. The researcher administered a pre-test
and post-test during the data collection process. Based on the results of the research,
it was found the data were not normally distributed and were homogeneous.
Hypothesis testing uses non-parametric statistics, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test
shows the results that Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. It can be concluded that
there is signifcant effect of using crossword puzzle games in enriching student
vocabulary for 8th grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Cisoka Kabupaten Tangerang
in the Academic Year 2022/2023.
