The purpose of this research was to know whether there is a significant correlation between lexical density and students writing skill at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 7 Kota Tangerang. This research used quantitative method, 183 students as the sample which taken random by used simple random sampling. Students’ writing test was used by the researcher to collect the data. Because the variable x (lexical density) and variable y (writing skill) were not normally distributed, testing of hypothesis was done by using Spearman’s rho. Based on the calculation, correlation coefficient Spearman’s rho for lexical density and writing skill was 0,657. It means, the correlations between vocabulary mastery and reading ability were good correlation because it is closer to 1. The significance value 0,000 < 0,05. It is indicated that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It means that there is significant correlation between lexical density and students writing skill at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 7 Kota Tangerang.
